Wax vs sealant: which wins?

Tomas Price, Coating TechnicianUpdated April 2026 · Miami studio

Wax gives warmth, sealant gives stamina. The right pick depends on where the car sleeps and how often you wash — not on which tin costs more.

Choose wax for glow

Carnauba wax adds a deep, warm glow dark paint loves — for about six to eight weeks. Perfect for garage-kept weekend cars washed by hand for fun.

Choose sealant for stamina

Synthetic sealants last four to six months, shrug off UV and road film, and suit cars parked outside. A spray sealant after a monthly wash takes ten minutes.

Or layer both

Our favourite combo: sealant as the base coat for protection, wax on top for looks before a show or a road trip. Top up the sealant monthly either way.
