Swirl-free polish guide

Swirls are micro-scratches from dirty wash media, not bad luck. Look at dark paint in direct sun: spider-webbed fine lines mean the wash caused them, and polishing is the only real fix.

Stop making new ones

Two buckets, a clean mitt and a pre-rinse cut swirl creation by most of the way. Never wipe a dry or dusty panel — soak first, then lift dirt off.

Hand vs machine

Hand polishing hides light haze for a month or two. A one-stage machine polish removes most swirls for a year or more; a two-stage pass handles deeper defects on dark cars.

Seal the result

Freshly polished paint is unprotected. Every polish should end with a sealant base — otherwise the first month of washing undoes half the work.
